Kevin McCloud and his long-running renovation series Grand Designs are drawing attention this week following a clutch of recent developments. An Edinburgh couple is currently staying in a caravan while their ambitious Grand Designs build progresses, and one Grand Designs subject suffered a setback after a driving test centre was demolished to make way for a family home.

McCloud also spoke to The Times about his personal life off the camera, revealing he once owned a Land Rover that was powered by chip fat. The show continues to generate buzz in Australia and the UK for the size of its builds and the real-life drama that comes with them.
