Budget 2026: Breathing space for today, hope for the future - GOV.UK — FTSE 100 falls as HSBC struggles, budget caution continues

The FTSE 100 fell as HSBC weighed down, with budget caution persisting. The Autumn Budget 2026 offered £100 payments to households to help navigate economic storms, while landlords faced a second property tax raid.
